what is a beginning?

my body is not a border

it is crossed by

rhythms of stomped

feet in clay by shore

lines traced on my back

your finger by the down

of a fallen fledge

ling by the caress of

your voice in melody — no

my body is not a border

but it is erected brick by

slapped knee as your laugh

cracks around me, I hide

behind my little wall until

all the children of my self

are washed away in sluice

of the dam you break

my walls so carefully

arranged — no

my body is not a border,

but i have drawn a line

in fine sand around my

little life: "remember me

like this". my geode soul

lies open like a spent

tulip, petals falling to the

ground — yes

my body is not a border

but I fall into your hand

like an open mouth
